Cooperative Education (co-op)

Cooperative Education (Co-op) is an educational program in which students alternate periods of academic study with periods of employment in positions related to their academic, career, or personal interests. This combination of academic study and work produces an overall learning experience that gives greater meaning to students' academic studies and direction to their career development.

Co-op provides students with the opportunity to explore their career interests in several different settings, to build a network of contacts in the education field, and to improve their credentials and job seeking skills. Nancy Geoffrion (n.geoffrion@neu.edu) is the Co-op Faculty Coordinator for the School of Education. Her office is located in 43 Lake Hall. She works closely with students during the semester before they are scheduled to go out on Co-op. She may be contacted at (617) 373-3453 or at n.geoffrion@neu.edu to set up an appointment to learn more about the Co-op program.
