Future Educators Club (Student Group)
Mission Statement
To provide Northeastern students who are pursuing a career or have an interest in the field of education an opportunity to be part of a group that organizes and facilitates activities involving the educational community in Boston and its surrounding areas.
FEC Functions and Events
- Sponsors student forums where information is shared and issues are raised and addressed.
- Hosts an email address and suggestion box (accessible in the student lounge) for students to share questions, concerns, and successes.
- Organizes a Book Club where students and faculty examine and discuss books dealing with issues in education.
- Plans and hosts the annual School of Education Pinning Ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students during Northeastern's Graduation Week.
- Plans and hosts a forum for prospective education students during "Welcome Week" every Fall.
Future Educators Conference
Every year the Future Educators Club hosts a conference designed by undergraduates, for undergraduates, with a mission to address issues important in the education world. Students in teacher preparation programs around New England are invited to attend this free event, which is usually held in the Spring. Each year the theme changes to reflect current issues educators are facing.
Student Advisory Committee
The Link Between Students and Professors- Comprised of the officers of the Future Educators Club.
- Meets with the School of Education Dean and faculty on a regular basis to discuss student issues in the School of Education.
- Assists with the hiring of new professors and staff members.
